Suffolk Stain Removal Tips
Please read below to keep your carpets cleaner for longer, prevent permanent staining, soiling and to prolong the life of your carpets or soft furnishings.
Vacuuming – The more frequently you vacuum, the better. We all know vacuuming can be a bit of a chore, but the fibres and fabrics in our carpets and soft furnishings have a rough time when they have been left for long periods without being vacuumed.
Dry soil at the base of your fibres acts like sandpaper and wears the carpet from the base of the pile upwards. Most people only vacuum if it looks like it needs to be done, but if done periodically before it looks soiled, you will be preventing the build up of soil in the base of the fibres therefore helping to prevent future wear.
Spills – If you have a spillage the first thing to do is scrape up any solids with a blunt knife, then blot the area with terry towels or white kitchen roll. The idea of this technique is to remove all solids and liquids whilst damp to ensure that when the area dries there are no liquids left to set into the fibres.
Some liquids have very strong dyes and can be impossible to rectify, however by removing all liquids and being patient you will stand the best chance of us being able to completely resolve the issue.
Once all liquids have been removed, apply a small amount of sparkling water to the outside of the area, blot again and see if the stain is lifting onto the terry towel or kitchen roll, if it is, carry on until you cannot remove any more.
Once these steps have been followed, please contact us for more advice, we strongly advise not to use any domestic cleaning agents as they may not be the right product for your carpet or upholstery’s construction and can cause the stain to be permanently sealed to the fibres as well as potentially dying fibres and leaving the areas concerned very sticky.
